Creativity 101: I have a body.

Creativity 101: A Holistic look at who I am.

I have a head, neck, shoulders, arms, hands, stomach, bum, legs, and feet. Plus, all the other smaller appendages in between. I call it my body.
My body can do amazing things, especially when I am fit. But even if I am not mobile, my body can still be valuable.
With this body, I can exercise, walk, run, pray, meditate, read, bake, swim, ride a bike, lay on the bed, paint, write or whatever I choose to do with it.
It is totally depended on me. That is why I must look after it. My body cannot take food from the fridge unless I don't tell it to do so.
Each one of us has one. No matter the form... it is our body. What I put into it, he gives back to me. Whether good or bad, it returns the favour. Sometimes to our devastation.
Being a holistic person, we are made into a body, with a mind and a spirit. Our body is the vessel we use to our advantage.
The mind and spirit don't have a body. Therefore, it needs a body to move around and put action into our thoughts.
How do you take care of your body today? Do you drink enough water? Eat correctly? Do some exercise with it? I know... we don't always, but try to.
Or maybe you are busy with a painting, or writing. Some part of your body is at work. Right? Even as I type this post, my body is at work. Maybe not all of it, but part of my body is in motion.
The point is, without this body of mine, I cannot do anything I want. I have to take care of it. Make sure it stays healthy. Give it enough rest, do some walking.
My body is essential to my creativity. No matter my choice, my body is needed to put action to it. How great is that?

Creativity 101: What is a holistic platform?

Creativity 101

My intent with this blog /group is twofold:

To bring like-minded people together who have a passion or drive to create and to show it off in a safe environment without ridicule or judgement.
And to help people to get unlocked, unblocked, unsecured, unfastened, and connected with the well of creativity that is within each of us. Whether or not you use it at this stage, you are a creative being with the ability to create.

With each part I will go deeper into it but for now I will give the absolute necessities to understand what it means.

The things we experience within that continue feeling that something is amiss is, in fact, your creativity that is looking for an escape. It is so integrally part of you that you cannot be alive without expressing it through some sort of creativity.

Whether you bake, knit, sing, write, dance, paint… you create.

Within the comments, let me know your thoughts and struggles. Your input is valuable.

For us, to understand what KreativPreneurs are, we must begin at the beginning.

Why do I say this is a holistic platform?

According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary Holistic means:

Adjective

characterized by the belief that the parts of something are interconnected and can be explained only by reference to the whole:

"the solution demands a holistic approach and a strategic vision of what can be achieved" · "poverty will need to be addressed holistically."

Medicine

characterized by the treatment of the whole person, considering mental and social factors, rather than just the symptoms of an illness:

"many people conclude holistic medicines are beneficial" · "a truly alternative holistic medical practice" · "a holistic therapist"

According to YourDictionary.com, it means:

As an adjective

1.      Of or relating to holism. Webster's New World.

Similar definitions:

2. Emphasizing the importance of the whole and the interdependence of its parts. American Heritage Medicine.

3.   Off, concerned with, or dealing with wholes or integrated systems rather than with their parts. Webster's New World.

    Similar definitions

4.   Designating or of healthcare that takes a patient's nutritional, environmental, and psychological factors into account. Webster's New World.

5.    Incorporating unconventional treatment, as, variously, folk medicine, yoga, acupuncture, massage, etc.

General Systems Theory, a related modern concept [to holism], says that each variable in any system interacts with the other variables so thoroughly that cause and effect cannot be separated. A simple variable can be both cause and effect. Reality will not be still. And it cannot be taken apart! You cannot understand a cell, a rat, a brain structure, a family, a culture if you isolate it from its context. Relationship is everything.”

Marilyn Ferguson The Aquarian Conspiracy

We are all students of life:

Holistic education (also: holistic learning) is an approach to education that involves educating a person so that they will become a well-rounded and confident being who contributes productively to their community (in serving and being a solution when it is called for). It focuses on developing care for others and respect for the environment. It pays equal respect to the emotional, social, and cognitive wellbeing of the learner. ChrisDrew (PhD)

Another scholarly definition, from Marshman (2010, p. 3):

“Holistic education focuses on the fullest possible development of the person, encouraging
individuals to become the very best or finest that they can be and enabling them to experience all they can from life and reach their goals.”

Is that not what we all want? To be fully developed, to serve those with our talents and reach our goals. I know I am. As you, I learn with each new information I receive.

A Holistic Writer (artist)…

1. Sees their work from the outside in.

2. Understand their work as the sum of its parts.

3. Sees those parts only in relation to each other and the whole.

4. Sees their fiction in relation to their person.

5. Cannot separate their writing life and their everyday life, because they are the same.

What the Bible says:

We are earthen vessels that need to be filled.

Streams of living water will pour from us once we connect with God.

We are created in the image of God.

He is the Creator, and we have His DNA. Therefore, we can create.

Next time, we will look further into ourselves. What it means when we hear: body, soul and mind.

Release your Creativity: Ditching the Junk

Free Download: Introduction Release Your Creative Manual

If we are in control of our thoughts, we can achieve just about anything. It sounds simple, and we’ve all heard this many times before, and wondered why we still cannot achieve what we want.

However, there’s more to it than a simplistic belief that ‘you can achieve anything you want in life’... right?

Most of us don't have control over our thoughts. Taking control of our thought life is the first step towards genuine progress.

Everything we think, every attitude we adopt, every position we assume, every angle we see things from, it all makes a tremendous difference.

So, you might think something like, ‘Here we go again, think happy thoughts and everything will turn out shiny and perfect. Is it all you have to do?

Well, no. That’s not all. Not quite. Think clearly, without the attendant positive action, we’re wasting time. But if we have a positive attitude, it puts us in the mood to take decisive action. It makes the world of difference.

 STOP AND TAKE STOCK.

Stop, and view your state and actions. You are defining your current situation by continually thinking the same way and doing the same things that have always brought you all the negatives you don’t want.

So, stop. Take a breather and notice your overriding thoughts. You might think thoughts of being useless? Or maybe you’re thinking that you don’t deserve certain things? Maybe you’ve decided that you’ll never make real money, no matter what you do or how many new ventures you try out.

So, why are we thinking this way? Well, not through choice, that’s for sure! It doesn’t take a trained psychologist to know that nobody wants to think destructive, miserable, and unproductive thoughts each day.

No-one chooses to do that. But (and it’s a BIG ‘but’)… we do repeatedly think this way by not choosing to think in a different way. The choices we make will make all the difference.

So back to the question, why do we think this way? Most likely because our culture encourages us to think this way. We are subjected to negative ideas and negative ways of thinking since childhood. We absorbed this in the same way as a sponge absorbs water.

Now, without thinking about it, we just adopt those depressing, negative attitudes, and those negative thinking styles, and we’re off and running. We end up thinking negatively, and we don’t even realise what we’re doing!

So, take stock and decide what it is you’re thinking, and then find out if it’s helping you move towards your goals, or moving away from them in the opposite direction.

Decide what you want. Think about it. Take your time. Attempt to define the precise details of what it is you want.

If there’s something you’re thinking about (for example, if you are continually reliving a negative experience in your mind), then ask yourself, “Is this helping me, or is it just slowing me down?”

If your thinking isn’t helping you, then it’s time to ditch the junk and quench those destructive thought patterns. It might not be easy, but it is achievable with a little self- awareness and a lot of self-control.

Decide on your next course of action (or course of thinking). If you have things that are going on in your life, and they are dragging you down, then you know it’s time to stop doing them, or thinking about them.

HAVE A MENTAL CLEAR-OUT!

Do this regularly. Remove the junk from your mind and get rid of all the emotional trash. Feel the relief as you ‘see’ it floats away on a softly undulating sea of calm thoughts. Isn’t it good to be free from that emotional garbage that’s been dragging you down and pulling you further and further away from what you actually want?

As you become freer and lighter, you’ll be able to put into action all the things you want to do. You’ll find that you can complete them much more easily and more productively now.

It’s much easier to do the correct and the productive thing if you are not weighed down by bags of negativity. It’s like trying to swim with bags of sand attached to your belt.

The moment you ditch your junk thoughts, you will feel lighter! You can move easier! You can move with greater ease towards the things you want in your future. Your actions will be more efficient because you’re no longer being dragged down by rotten, stinking thinking!

BEGIN MAKING REAL PROGRESS

Upon doing this, you’ll see actual progress in your life. Progress in improving your memory, or making more money, or finding romance, or improving your relationships, or building a business. Whatever it is you want, you must be sure of what it is before you move towards it.

This is more easily achieved if you’ve ditched all the rotten thinking that’s been holding you back all this time. The way to do that is to recognise it for what it is, and let it go.

And as you relinquish the negativity, you more easily adopt an attitude of positivity, which helps you move in the right direction, and much more quickly.

COUNTING THE COST

And your cost of achieving all this? A few minutes each day, and a little clear thinking! Some time spent reflecting on the value of certain trains of thought—and the boldness to change direction where necessary.

Commit to your future and devote some quality time each day towards some clear and forward focused thinking. In return for a few minutes of your time, the future rewards can be incredible!

If you have been spending time (and emotional energy) thinking depressing, miserable, and unproductive thoughts, you can change things, and you change them now.

You don’t need to be a psychologist, or even have a psychotherapist to guide you.

You do not need an expensive hour on a consulting room sofa once a week for six months or a life coach. You don’t even need a patient friend to listen to your troubles or a comforting shoulder to cry on.

Generally, you can sort out your own problems, all by yourself, and without any support from therapists or any other type of ‘professional’. In just a few minutes each day, all the benefits of thorough self-reflection are yours!

You’ll feel more at peace within yourself and find your thinking is much clearer. You’ll begin making better decisions. Your goals will become much clearer, and you’ll be moving towards your goals steadily, and with far less effort.

In fact, you’ll be closing in on your goals so fast it’ll make your world spin!

Release your Creativity: Part 5: Action

Free Download: Introduction Release Your Creative Manual

The smallest of actions, even the insignificant, can lead to great success. It’s been said that actions, like pictures, are worth a thousand words. We could have the best idea and the greatest plan, but without action, we would still fail.

Each step leads into the right direction. We call it action.

When you stand still, you don’t apply action. You are unmovable and will stay put. It is only when you lift your foot and put it down a little further that you move. Each step gives you confidence and boldness to go further. Reach higher.

When you have a desire to bake a cake and you don’t visit the shop to buy the ingredients, it will remain a desire. Even if you bought the ingredients and don’t bake it, it will remain a desire.

Desire is born from a deep-seated dream that wants to push you forward.

A dream can only come forward once you put it on a vision board. It applies to everything you want to do. The book you want to write. Being a full-time actor, movie producer, etc. Hang it somewhere where it is visible every day. Behind the toilet door, inside your bedroom cupboard; any place where you will see it. A vision board doesn’t help if you hide it away. It needs to be in the open.

Do you want to travel? Create a vision board of all the places you would like to visit. Read about them in your spare time.

This all has to do with action. Preparation and action equals results.

Each action step propels you closer to the dream, builds desire, and opens doors in the most unusual ways.

At times, we can take the wrong step, but you have learned from it. Never think that a mistake is a negative. No, a mistake is part of the lessons we learn. School money. Knowledge is part of the formula to move. Knowledge is always tested. Sometimes, you learn the wrong skill; or is it? No skill is wrong. You never know what the future holds; It may come in handy when life turns on you.

Be active in action.

Release your Creativity: Part 4: Fear

It all starts with our belief system. Matthew 19:26: “But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God, all things are possible.” This has always been true.
A lot of things can keep someone from believing. However, it seems the biggest factor that keeps people from believing is fear. It’s a fact that it takes courage to succeed. But let’s not forget that courage isn’t the absence of fear—it’s the capacity to press on despite fear.
Fear can immobilise us or push us forward.
Most of us choose to be immobilised because it is a comfort zone. Moving forward means I have to show up and do. Each step we take in the right direction propels us forward and we are further along on this creative road.
Sure, it is nice to be comfortable. It's only meant to be a temporary place to rest. We are not supposed to pitch a tent and live there. Unfortunately, many of us choose to stay in the cramp-ness of the tent. Refusing to explore all the possibilities outside the “comfort zone”.
I know it is cold and windy, but is that not exciting? It is only when we face the elements that we can progress towards the goal of creative enlightenment. It is during this phase that we grow and the best of all, tell others about it.
It is always a two-way street.
Rather than that, fear rules you; let the words from Matthew encourage you. “With men, this is impossible; but with God, all things are possible.” When you trust in Him as your source of inspiration, you can only win.
What can you lose? Nothing.
Even if it doesn't work out, you're still a winner. Believe in yourself and trust God that has placed the dream within your heart that all will work out for the good.
Let the river flow.

Release your creativity: Part 3: Change

“Our belief system is the driving force behind our behaviours and the results we get in life. If we change our beliefs, we will change our behaviours. When we change our behaviours, we will change our results. Then, when we change our results, we will change our lives!”

Change is never easy.

A few weeks ago, I heard in my spirit it is time to clean. Then my mentor called and confirmed this. All the junk of the past must be thrown away. Old journals, photos, diaries, ornaments that have no purpose. It took me a while to get into the flow, but once I started, it became easier. Now I don’t have to think about it too much. I just act. And the change is WOW.

If the Holy Spirit hasn’t pressed it in on my heart, i would have never done it. I knew I needed to do it. The past can hold you back even without the promptings I knew this. There were too many triggers lying dormant in my mind, and each time I stumbled on it, a trigger was released. Shame, anger, regret are all things that can hold you back from creating.

I would have missed it if I wasn't open to His promptings. If I didn’t have a belief system, I would have no driving force that would have prompted me to clean up.

It is important to be connected with a source higher than yourself. You are an empty vessel without a compass.

Once we begin, our behaviours changes as well. Nowadays, I drink less and less. The taste of any alcohol has lost its appeal. I still make mistakes, but I am more aware of what I say or do. But it is changing.

The result is that I have begun with The KreativPreneur Club FB group. This challenges me to think out of the box instead of being focused only on one thing. My words flow with ease and it becomes a joy to write.

I also take it easier and is more relaxed. I trust the process and I trust God. God will do the rest. For the first time in a long time, I gave a word of encouragement to a friend. It touched me deeply as I wrote it and cried while writing it.

The more we allow God to move through us and trust His flow and direction, the more we will become in sync with Him and do the things He presses on our hearts. It is then that our lives will change.

I can do with a change in my life. And already I can feel the rumblings in my spirit and feel the excitement as it grows with each day because I know God is busy. I just have to trust Him and stay connected to Him.

I don’t always understand what He is doing or why He does certain things the way He does, but I know He is in control.

Let the river flow.

Release your creativity: Part 2: Belief

Last time I wrote about how the lack of knowledge will cause your spiritual/physical death. If we don’t apply knowledge to the inspiration and dreams and act, it will remain fruitless.

Now we take it a little further by adding substance to our knowledge, and that is called belief.

Who do you believe in? What do you believe, and how do you apply your belief in your creativity?

“Why do most people find it so difficult to put the required action behind their knowledge? I believe it is nothing more than a lack of belief.”

The moment you connect with God, streams of living water flows.

Our creativity is like a river that has to flow continually to grow. If we do not put action to the flow, it will stale and dry up. Blocks appear, and what we experience or feel in our hearts doesn’t manifest in the medium you are led to use.

One of the main reasons this happens is our lack of faith in ourselves.

When we have a lack of faith in our abilities, we stop the flow. The only way to recharge it is to connect with the Living Creator that is the beginning of our creativity. He is our source, the very substance of our existence. We cannot separate the two.

Charles Spurgeon used a wonderful analogy to describe how faith works. An anchor on a boat might look beautiful, but it is useless. In fact, it is only an ornament while it lies on the boat.

Only when it is tossed into the waters and reaches the seabed, can it become useful. It is created to work in the silent dark places to anchor the boat. It wasn’t created to be an ornament.

If we don’t believe in God, we can’t have faith in our abilities. The two are interlinked. Once your connection is secure, faith works.

An anchor is connected with its source. It cannot do its work properly if it’s not connected.

This is how faith is. Only when you use it, does it become useful. Our faith must come into action in order to release the flow of creativity in our lives. If we don’t use it, it is a mere ornament that gathers dust on our vessel.

The only thing we can do to make it work is by acting in faith and toss it into the sea once that connection is established. This is where our belief in the divine will be tested.

By Faith [that is, with an inherent trust and enduring confidence in the power, wisdom, and goodness of God] we understand that the worlds (universe, ages) were framed and created [formed, put in order, and equipped for their intended purposes] by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible.

Hebr: 11.3 (Amp)

When our belief is shattered or misplaced by the troubles of this world, we are like a Lasarus who is still wrapped in he’s death cloth; who can hear but cannot see and who still stinks and is unable to communicate.

It is only when the death cloth is removed that we can truly see the new life promised to us. Once we see and hear, can we communicate and the creativity be released.

Talk to someone close to you if you struggle with this or talk to me, and connect to the Source of your hope. Jesus Christ, the anointed of God, establishes that connection, and see what God will do in and through you.

Let the river flow.

Release your creativity: Part 1: Knowledge

Each week, I will add a brief segment from the manual; Release your Creativity for greater understanding.

A deeper look into what needs to happen in order to move into our destiny.

“If we apply massive action to our knowledge, it will have a faster, and even greater, impact on our lives.”

Knowledge is a fundamental part of our very existence. Without it, we will not know the simplest thing or do certain things, or how to act in everyday life. With that knowledge comes action. Action to do conquers the curveballs life throws at us.

For example, knowledge empowers us to walk the street with confidence, interact with others with confidence, and do our work with confidence. The more we learn, the more knowledgeable we become.

Once we are born, we receive knowledge from our parents on how to interact with them, family, and relatives. We learn to share, to love, and through play, we learn and observe essentials that build us from the inside. Here we are moulded into an image and the lessons we learn here shape us in how we receive more knowledge.

At six, we are sent to school to receive schooling in matters that will help us one day. We learn how to count, how to string words together, we learn about our body; we go back in history and much more.

A new birthing takes place that equips us to become a mature people that can apply that what we have learned to live our dreams and to excel. After matric we have many other avenues to take. A world opens with many possibilities, and we are confronted with choices. Every choice has an impact and if we make the wrong one, it can set us up for failure or propel us to bigger heights.

It takes determination and will to get through this stage, but the result is fulfilling and gratifying.

Certain areas in life like becoming a doctor, you must attend a university and study in a certain area in order to become even better at it and your knowledge grows exponentially. Each step always gives you a choice of acquiring more knowledge which you can apply in your daily life.

To simply say that I can do a job without the knowledge will cause problems. Unfortunately, there are many that think like this and cause harm to themselves and others with grave results.

The lack of knowledge cause death.

If we do not understand how to cross a road, we will be crippled or worse. We can die if we eat the wrong plants.

If we don’t apply what we have learned from a parent or a teacher, we will not know to look right, left, then right again and step in front of oncoming traffic.

If we don’t stop at a red light, we will cause an accident or die.

To have knowledge will have a faster, and even greater, impact on our lives.

Knowledge and training go hand in hand. We must train to get the result we are looking for. Without training, learning, and testing, our knowledge will stay limited.

The more we learn, the more knowledge will be added.

The more we do, the more confidence will grow.

Knowledge breeds confidence.

Talk to me in the comments. I would love to hear your thoughts and what you have learned.
